Dr. Tess M. Kilwein

Clinical & Sports Psychologist

Dr. Kilwein is a board-certified clinical, health, and sport psychologist licensed in CA, CO, ND, NY, TN, and WY, with PSYPACT® authorization to practice across the U.S. They are a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® through AASP, credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, and an independent clinician listed on the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Mental Health Registry, Canadian Olympic Committee Mental Health Network, and Major League Baseball Player Association Mental Health and Wellness Network.
Dr. Kilwein owns Unapologetic Psychology PLLC, a telemental health and performance consulting practice serving high-performance individuals—including athletes, performers, healthcare professionals, and executives—with an additional focus on LGBTQIA2S+ and rural communities. They formerly served as a sport psychologist for Vanderbilt University Athletics, supporting individual athletes and leading sport psychology services for cross country, golf, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis, and track and field teams.
A specialist in trauma, sexual health, substance use, and integrated behavioral health, Dr. Kilwein brings deep experience in sexual violence prevention and response in sports settings. They have served on sexual violence prevention teams for collegiate athletic departments; contributed blogs on Sexual Violence Prevention in Sport, Trauma and PTSD Among Elite Athletes, and Creating Trauma-Informed Sports Environments for Athletes for Psychology Today; and authored a chapter on Athletic Programmatic Prevention in the book Examining and Mitigating Sexual Misconduct in Sport.
Dr. Kilwein’s approach is trauma-informed, identity-affirming, and rooted in liberation psychology, centering care at the intersection of performance, marginalization, and mental health. Nationally, Dr. Kilwein serves as the chair of the American Psychological Association (APA) Committee for Rural Health and the Diversity Committees of APA Division 47 and the Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association.
Dr. Kilwein is available for consultation, training, and speaking engagements related to trauma, sexual violence prevention, and mental performance in sport.

Dr. Tyler Miles

Clinical & Sports Psychologist

Dr. Tyler Miles, Psy.D., is a licensed Clinical Sport Psychologist who works at the intersection of mental health, sport performance, and athlete advocacy. She has worked with Division I, Olympic, and professional athletes addressing both mental health and performance concerns. Her formal sport psychology training includes a doctoral internship with the Oklahoma Sport Psychology Consortium, where she worked with University of Oklahoma Athletics, in private practice, and with the Oklahoma City Ballet. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship with UNC Charlotte Athletics.
Dr. Miles’s national presented research focuses on coach-athlete emotional abuse and the systemic dynamics that allow harm to persist in sport. As a retired Worlds-level competitive and Division I cheerleader, she is especially passionate about ensuring that cheer and dance have equitable access to mental health care.
Before earning her doctorate, Dr. Miles completed dual bachelor’s degrees in Photojournalism and Peace, War, and Defense from UNC-Chapel Hill. She began her career in international human rights, working in Northern Uganda and Washington, D.C., before transitioning into psychology. She earned a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from The George Washington University and a Psy.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology, gaining clinical experience in diverse settings including a locked inpatient psychiatric unit and a state prison.
Dr. Miles absolutely loves what she does and is committed to fostering a trauma-informed, authentic therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, safe, and supported. She aims to bring a perspective of curiosity and cultural humility to her work, recognizing that meaningful change is deeply relational. Guided by a social justice framework, she supports individual well-being while actively challenging the broader systems of oppression that impact her clients.

Margaret Hoelzer

Olympian & NCAC Spokesperson

Margaret Hoelzer is a Double Olympian and three-time Olympic Medalist in Swimming, as well as a former World Record holder.  At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was awarded Silver medals in the 200m Backstroke and the 400m Medley Relay.  She also holds a Bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke. Originally from Huntsville Alabama, Margaret attended Auburn University where she was a 22-time All- American and a 6-time National Champion.
Since retiring in 2010, Margaret has been happily residing in the Pacific Northwest.  She teaches private swim lessons and travels frequently for swim clinics and motivational speaking.  Margaret is an accomplished public speaker and vocal advocate for victims of sexual abuse, having given speeches on Tedx and at various conferences and fundraisers around the country.  In her speeches, Margaret shares her personal experience as a survivor of sexual abuse and focuses on lighting the path toward healing for other victims, their families and friends.
Margaret is currently the National Spokesperson for the National Children’s Advocacy Center as well as being a featured survivor in the training video ‘Stewards of Children’ by Darkness to Light from 2012-2022.  She was involved with the inception of USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, and helped the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee in forming their Safe Sport Program as well.
